Andy Rideout is the Henderson County Extension Agent for Horticulture.
Andy grew up in Henderson, graduating from HCHS in 1988. He spent 2 semesters at the Henderson Community College and 3 years at Murray State University earning a BA in Horticulture. In 2012, he received his MA in Public Administration from Murray State University.
Following college, Andy spent almost 20 years working in the golf management business managing golf course construction projects and operational duties for multiple golf facilities in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Texas.
In 2009, Andy began his Extension Career with Hopkins County Extension Office focusing much of his programming on the local food system. Supporting the local farmers market, introducing community supported agriculture (CSA’s), and organizing the first community garden in Madisonville were some accomplishments.
Transferring to Henderson County Extension in April, 2014, Andy still works with local producers and the local farmer’s market as well as answering homeowner questions and advice with lawn, landscape, and gardens. Andy supports and works closely with the Henderson County Master Gardeners and all the great projects they are involved with.
In addition to Horticulture, Andy is involved with many community projects and programs. He works closely with the Henderson County School system athletic fields and the City of Henderson Parks Department.
Andy is married to his lovely wife Laura, a 4th grade teacher at A.B. Chandler Elementary.
