We look forward to welcoming our new County Extension Agent for Horticulture, Andy Rideout. Andy is not new to Extension or to Henderson, so I'm sure many of you already know him. His official start-date in Henderson will be April 13, 2015. We invite you to join us on Wednesday, April 8 at a welcome reception for him from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Henderson County Extension Service Office Main Building Conference Room. The Henderson County Extension Council will be meeting that evening at 6 p.m. in the Main Building Conference Room, immediately following the reception.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
In accordance with KRS 176.051, Kentucky’s noxious weed law, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will control noxious weeds on state-owned right of way at the request of the adjoining property owner. The noxious weeds named in this law are Johnsongrass, Giant foxtail, Canada thistle, Nodding thistle, Common teasel, Multiflora rose, Amur honeysuckle, Poison hemlock, Marestail, Japanese knotweed, and Kudzu.
Persons who own property adjacent to state right of way and who are involved in eradication efforts on their property can submit a written application to the highway district office in their area. Applications and addresses of each district office will be located at state highway garages.
All landowners and producers need to be made aware of certain deadlines and other information regarding the 2014 Farm Bill. Click HERE for full information
- Producers should update yields regardless of what program they elect to go into. This is a onetime option that has not been offered since 1985. This yield could be used for future Farm Bill programs.
- Producers should contact their local FSA office to make an appointment to complete all steps of ARCPLC prior to the enrollment deadline.
Updating yields should be started as soon as possible even though at this time you may not know which program in which you will participate.
